Top Math Olympiad Training for Primary School

Why enrol in a Long Term Course?

Competition Preparation: NMOS, RMO, SMOPS

Our courses aim to connect previous knowledge points with new ones and equip students with multiple approaches for each question. Not only that, students will also be able to apply them into complex questions tested frequently in math competitions such as NMOS, RMO and SMOPS.

Track Record

In 2023, Think Academy has helped more 30 students to achieve outstanding results in the local math olympiads. Furthermore, in 2024, we have successfully helped 15 students enter the second round of RMO.

Ability Assessment: Midterm Tests, TASMO, PSLE Assessment

These abilities learnt in the coming semesters are also vital in other key events such as school tests, TASMO, PSLE and even secondary school content in the future. They aid the development of robust mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills required.

Direct School Admission (DSA)

Most students who are competing in math olympiads would be aiming for the direct school admissions through Math DSA(NUS High for NMOS; Hwa Chong Institution for SMOPS; Raffles Institution for RMO). Our course strengthens students' ability to analyse challenging questions and combine various problem-solving techniques to enhance the prospects of a successful DSA application.

In order to achieve these objectives, we have created a wide range of programmes designed to cultivate our children's learning habits and abilities in the long run.

Types of Courses

We have 2 types of courses - the Math High Achievers and the Math Olympiad Competition class. The Math High Achievers is the basic math olympiad class covering basic topics covered in the Math Olympiads and school syllabus knowledge points while the Math Olympiad Competition class is the advanced math olympiad class that will help students achieve excellent results at RMO and NMOS.

Objectives of Courses

Math High Achievers

Learning Goals

  1. Comprehensive Coverage of School Syllabus Math
From Primary 5, the Math High Achiever's focus will shift towards mastering school syllabus math knowledge points to achieve AL1-2.
  2. Active Preparation for Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)
Students will be equipped with problem solving skills required to solve difficult math questions, possessing advanced mathematical thinking compared to their peers, in preparation for the PSLE
  3. Suitable for International School Students
We have also developed a  comprehensive AMC8 competition preparation course, designed specifically for international school students to enhance students' mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills, in turn, achieving excellent results in the AMC8. Our course helps students to expand their thinking abilities, improve their logical reasoning abilities and hone their problem-solving techniques. At the same time, through engaging teaching methods, students will develop a strong interest in the subject, laying a strong foundation for math beyond the Primary School.

Math Olympiad Competition

Learning Goals

Develop comprehensive Math Olympiad thinking to help students qualify for the 2025 RMO second round and NMOS Gold Medal. The course will cover topics such as

  • Calculation: Advanced calculation techniques
  • Geometry: Identify complex geometric models and their special properties
  • Distance Problems: Applying basic distance, speed and time theory into questions involving chasing, catching up, multiple encounters and more
  • Number Theory: Review and strengthen their application of factors, multiples, and remainders
  • Application Problems: Solve complex word problems by incorporating multiple concepts and algebra
  • Combinatorics: Solving problems using various counting techniques

Course Design

  1. Each lesson focuses on strengthening students' ability in the relevant knowledge points through in-depth discovery of key concepts and principles.
  2. Each lesson is scaffolded. Students will build on their foundational knowledge before extending on their existing knowledge. Challenging questions are introduced after students have mastered the concepts to manage learning.
  3. Weekly assignments, explanation, monthly recap and past year paper explanations are included to help students consolidate and recap what they have learned.
  4. Mock exams and full paper explanations for important math competitions such as NMOS, RMO, SMOPS, and AMC8, totaling nine weeks of knowledge review for students, will also be provided.
Our Curriculum

Through the analysis of our students learning needs and goals, our Primary Math Olympiad curriculum aims to cover the abilities and skills required for every student to achieve their potential.
